MCLEAN, VA (December 1, 1999) -- Image Media Services (IMS), has been selected by the U.S. Census Bureau to develop the Census 2000 Recruitment Advertising Campaign. This extraordinary undertaking will make the Census Bureau the world's largest temporary employer this coming spring.

Ahn, a former anchorwoman for Korean Television in Hawaii and an Asian media consultant, founded IMS in 1989 to foster strong relationships between American corporations, Asian Americans and the media. Initially there was an overwhelming need to develop and translate a clear understanding of objectives between culturally distinct communities. IMS filled this void in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area via intelligent marketing strategies and the media, gradually reaching beyond advertising and media consulting to include a wide array of services.

The Census 2000 Recruitment campaign will run nationwide from December 1999 through March 2000 and will utilize all forms of media. The campaign targets members of minority groups including African Americans, Hispanics, Asian Americans, American Indians and Pacific Islanders; as well as the general public. Minority groups were undercounted during the last Decennial Census. By encouraging them to work part-time as Census takers, it is hoped that everyone will be counted.
